Abkhazia. New Athos. 14.10.2014 (Men`s monastery located at the foot of mount Athos in Abkhazia. Founded in 1875 by monks from the Russian monastery of St. Panteleimon from the Old Athos (Greece) (Constantinopolis Patriarchate) with the participation of the Russian Emperor Alexander III. Panteleimon Cathedral built in 1888-1900, It is crowned with five domes; the Central one is 40 meters. The Cathedral was built in the so-called Novo-Byzantine style which was very common in Russian Church architecture of the late XIX — early XX century. The inside walls are painted in the years 1911-1914 craftsmen from the village of Palekh, Vladimir province and a group of Moscow artists under the leadership of N. V. Molov and V. A. Serebryakov. Panteleimon Cathedral is the largest religious building in Abkhazia. Closed in 1924, woodwaxen believer in 1994.)
